About
Kellie Harriden
Kellie grew up in Australia with her mum, dad and sisters. In her 20's she spent her time travelling and working overseas. After returning to Australia, Kellie met Ian, where they were working at the same resort in Noosa Heads on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. After some time they bought a home together, then decided to start trying for a family. Little did they know just how that one seemingly simple decision would turn out to be so incredibly challenging. During the eight years it took for Kellie and Ian to have a family, they tried many options, not letting anything beat them. Eventually all their hard work and persistence paid off and resulted in them having their long-awaited twins. It was not an easy journey for them and they learnt a lot along the way!
During the days, months and years it took to have a family, Kellie knew she had plenty of support around her, however instead often felt very alone and ashamed. No one in her family or circle of friends had experienced what she was going through, and she often felt confused as to why her body was not doing what it was naturally meant to.
Kellie now aspires to make the journey easier on others, give them hope, share her research and help them navigate through their options. Kellie understands the negative results and financial stress can be heartbreaking and soul destroying, which is why she felt compelled to share her story and write her book, Long-Awaited Child. She hopes by reading her story it will inspire others to not give up on their dreams to have a family and to possibly look into other options should they need to.
